Part of an ongoing study conducted by Public/Private Ventures examining volunteer mentors experiences and relationship development within both community-based and school-based mentoring programs. This study addressed three primary questions:
- What is school-based mentoring?
- Are mentors in both types of programs developing significant relationships with youth so that they are making a difference in their lives?
- What benchmarks can be developed to ensure the optimal development of these supportive relationships?
The researchers concluded that both school and community-based mentoring programs have the potential to create positive mentoring relationships and spotlighted the factors associated with the most supportive relationships.
