Disability Rehabilitation Research Projects (DRRP) Program-CFDA# 84.133A-17

The purpose of the DRRP Program is to improve the effectiveness of services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (the Act), as amended. For FY 2003 the competition for new awards focuses on projects designed to meet the priority we describe in the Priority section of this application notice. This priority is intended to improve rehabilitation services and outcomes for individuals with disabilities from traditionally underserved racial and ethnic populations. Eligible Applicants: Parties eligible to apply for grants under this program are limited to minority entities and Indian tribes. Available: January 16, 2003. Deadline: March 17, 2003.

Special Focus Competition (Institutional Cooperation and Student Mobility in Postsecondary Education among the United States, Canada and Mexico) - CFDA# 84.116N

Provide grants or enter into cooperative agreements to improve postsecondary education opportunities by focusing on problem areas or improvement approaches in postsecondary education. Reading First - CFDA#: 84.357

Reading First is a formula grant program that provides assistance to State and local educational agencies to establish scientifically based reading programs in kindergarten through third grade classrooms, to ensure that all children learn to read well by the end of third grade. Sponsored by the Office of Reading First. Deadline: July 1, 2003 (May 29, 2002 in order to receive funds on July 1, 2002).

International Research and Studies Program - CFDA#: 84.017A

Provides grants to conduct research and studies to improve and strengthen instruction in modern foreign languages, area studies, and other international fields. Announced: September 26, 2002. Reopening and correction: November 8, 2002. Deadline: January 17, 2003.

National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)-Secondary Analysis Program – CFDA#: 84.902B

The purpose of the program is to encourage the preparation of reports that would not otherwise be available and that apply new approaches to the analysis and reporting of the NAEP and NAEP High School Transcript Studies data. Analyses and reports prepared under this program should potentially be useful to the general public, parents, educators, educational researchers, or policy makers. Deadline: February 7, 2003. Vocational Rehabilitation Service Projects for American Indians With Disabilities - CFDA#: 84.250D

Purpose of the program is to provide vocational rehabilitation services to American Indians with disabilities who reside on or near Federal or State reservations, consistent with their individual strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities, and informed choices, so that they may prepare for and engage in gainful employment, including self-employment, telecommuting, or business ownership. Announced: November 15, 2002. Deadline: March 31, 2003.

Announced: September 13, 2002. Deadline: November 12, 2002.

Impact Aid - CFDA#: 84.041C

Provides grants to eligible Impact Aid districts to assist them in addressing their school facilities emergency and modernization needs. The intended recipient Impact Aid school districts have a limited ability to raise revenues for capital improvements because they have high percentages of federally connected students or a large percentage of Federal land. As a result, these districts find it difficult to respond when their school facilities are in need of emergency improvements or modernization. Announced: August 29, 2002. Deadline: November 15, 2002.
