Technical Assistance and Dissemination to Improve Services and Results for Children with Disabilities Program - CFDA#: 84.326C

A grant from the US Department of Education to provide technical assistance and information that: support States and local entities in building capacity to improve early intervention, educational, and transitional services and results for children with disabilities and their families; and address goals and priorities for changing State systems that provide early intervention, educational, and transitional services for children with disabilities and their families. Advanced Placement (AP) Test Fee Program - CFDA# 84.330B

The AP Test Fee program provides grants to States to enable them to pay advanced placement test fees on behalf of eligible low-income students who are enrolled in an advanced placement course and plan to take an advanced placement exam. The program is designed to increase the number of low-income students who take advanced placement tests and receive scores for which college academic credit is awarded. Through participation in this program, low-income students will achieve to higher standards in English, mathematics, science, and other core subjects. The program also seeks to increase the number of low-income students who achieve a baccalaureate or advanced degree. Application deadline: June 30, 2003.

Advanced Placement Incentive (API) Program - CFDA# 84.330C

The API program, funded under section 1705 of Title I, Part G of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), awards competitive grants designed to increase the successful participation of low-income students in pre-advanced placement and advanced placement courses and tests. By supporting increased access to and participation in pre-advanced placement and advanced placement courses and tests, the program provides greater opportunities for low-income students to achieve to high standards in English, mathematics, science, and other core subjects. Additional long-term goals of the program are to demonstrate that larger and more diverse groups of students can participate and succeed in advanced placement programs, and to increase the numbers of low-income and other disadvantaged students who receive baccalaureate and advanced degrees. Application deadline: July 3, 2003.

Arts in Education Model Development and Dissemination Grant Program - CFDA# 84.351D

The Arts in Education Model Development and Dissemination Grant Program supports the development, documentation, evaluation, and dissemination of innovative, cohesive models that have demonstrated their effectiveness in: integrating arts into the core elementary and middle school curricula, strengthening arts instruction in these grades, and improving students' academic performance, including their skills in creating, performing, and responding to the arts. The Arts in Education Model Development and Dissemination Grant Program provides resources that local educational agencies (LEAs) and other eligible applicants can use in pursuit of the objectives of the No Child Left Behind Act. This program provides an opportunity for eligible entities to develop programs in schools identified for improvement, corrective action, or restructuring under Title I, Part A of the ESEA. Application deadline: July 10, 2003.

Disability Rehabilitation Research Projects (DRRP) Program - CFDA# 84.133A-6

The purpose of the DRRP program is to improve the effectiveness of services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (the Act), as amended. For FY 2003 the competition for new awards focuses on projects designed to meet the priority to improve rehabilitation services and outcomes for individuals with disabilities. Application deadline: July 14, 2003.

Professional Development for Arts Educators - CFDA# 84.351C

This program is authorized under Subpart 15 of Part D of Title V of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by Public Law 107-110, the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Through this competition, the Secretary will make grants to eligible entities for the implementation of high-quality professional development programs in elementary and secondary education. This program will fund model professional development programs for music, dance, drama, and visual arts educators that use innovative instructional methods, especially those linked to scientifically-based research. Application deadline: July 10, 2003.

Special Education: State Program Improvement Grants Program -CFDA# 84.323A

The purpose of this program, authorized under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Amendments of 1997, is to assist State educational agencies and their partners referred to in section 652(b) of IDEA with reforming and improving their systems for providing educational, early intervention, and transitional services, including their systems for professional development, technical assistance, and dissemination of knowledge about best practices, to improve results for children with disabilities. Applications available: May 27, 2003. Application deadline: July 11, 2003.

Tech-Prep Demonstration Program - CFDA# 84.353

The Tech-Prep Demonstration Program (TPDP) provides grants to enable consortia described in section 204(a) of the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act of 1998 (Perkins III) to carry out tech-prep education projects authorized by section 207 of Perkins III that involve the location of a secondary school on the site of a community college, a business as a member of the consortium, and the voluntary participation of secondary school students. Following an initial recruitment period, funded projects would enroll a new student cohort in each year of the project, in addition to continuing support for each previous TPDP student cohort. Application deadline: June 26th, 2003.

Carol M. White Physical Education Program - CFDA# 84.215F

The Carol M. White Physical Education Program provides grants to initiate, expand, or improve physical education programs, including after-school programs, for students in one or more grades from kindergarten through 12th grade in order to help students make progress toward meeting State standards for physical education. Applications available: April 1, 2003. Application deadline: May 12, 2003.

Credit Enhancement for Charter School Facilities Program - CFDA# 84.354A

This program will provide grants to eligible entities to permit them to enhance the credit of charter schools so that they can access private-sector and other non-Federal capital to acquire, construct, and renovate facilities at a reasonable cost. Grant projects awarded under this program will be of sufficient size, scope, and quality to enable the grantees to implement effective strategies. Applications available: April 3, 2003. Application deadline: June 3, 2003.
